Now is the time to end orcas in captivity
The movement to end orcas in captivity continues to grow, as seen by the recent coverage that SeaWorld’s stock has plummeted in response a substantial drop in revenue.
This news speaks to the storm of criticism received by SeaWorld following the release of last summer’s documentary Blackfish that prompted a shift in perceptions on marine mammals in captivity and sparked a public outcry.
As the debate rages on, SeaWorld has taken the positive step of no longer appealing a court ruling that prevents its trainers from entering the water with its orcas.
But this isn’t enough and we must keep up the momentum to end the inhumane practice of whale captivity.
